Mailing List File

This file specifies the full qualified mailing list members. Each line of the file contains an email address, group or domain, rights and parameters separated with a semi-colon.

Formal Syntax:

listfileitems = 1*(listfileitem CRLF)
listfileitem = emailitem [parameters [personalizedfields]]
emailitem = emailaddress / "[" group "]" / "[" domain "]"
parameters = ";" flags
flags = DIGIT ; Parameters description below
personalizedfields = ";" *(field "&") ; Fields description below
field = fieldname "=" fieldvalue

Parameters:

Flags are bit values and can be list rights or group rights.

List rights:
bit0 - Read / Receive
bit1 - Post
bit2 - Digest

Group rights:
See groupware documentation - GetFolderRightsList function and ACL bit values

Example:

john@foo.com Full post and read address
doe@foo.com;5 Digest address
all@hotmail.com;2 Only posting allowed

Fields:

Fields are URL encoded items and values in the following format:
item1=value1&item2=value2&item3=value3

In your message you can use the Personalized Mailing List option. This means that you can use in message sent to mailing list any variable in format {{item}}, where such variable will be replaced with the corresponding value of the particular member of the mailing list (the values might be either static or fetched from ODBC database using an SQL statement). The example is at the end of this document.

Example:

bill@microsoft.com;;name=Bill&totalsales=1050&pricecode=gtysrv778
johndoe@foo.com;;name=John&totalsales=1500&pricecode=dert464566

Then you can write messages like this:

Dear {{name}},
Congratulation! Your sales exceeded ${{totalsales}}. Let us offer you the special price for the next purchases. Your new pricecode is {{pricecode}}. Your Big Boss.

Note: in both entries of Personalized Mailing List example notice those two semicolons ';;'. This means there are no explicit specifications of mailing list member's parameters, ie. both of them are Post and Read addresses.
